Overview
Jordan is one of those countries that once existed for me solely in images in various shades of terracotta, ochre and apricot of the famous façade of Petra’s Jordan is rich with the stories mentioned and recorded in the Holy Bible and Holy Quran for prophets and good people, some of them are Abraham, Job, Moses, Ruth, Elijah, John the Baptist, Jesus Christ, Paul, and so many others whose teachings and deeds have ultimately affected and influenced the lives of millions of people around the world.
This program is designed for the people who love to discover the Holy Land, Jordan which these destinations are like a dream for people who are raring for culture and spirituality.
Most of the holy places where the prophets are believed to have performed their miracles and addressed the people have been identified and protected; they are now open to the public.
Program:
Day 1: Arrival Amman
Arrival at Queen Alia international Airport. Meet and assist by our representative before immigration counter. Transfer to the hotel in Amman.
Day 2: Amman – Umm Qais – Pella – Ajloun
Site of the famous miracle of the Gadarene swine, Gadara was renowned in its time as a cultural Centre, perched on a splendid hilltop overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee, Gadara is known today as Umm Qais.
Umm Qais, has been named among the ‘Best Tourism Villages 2022’ by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), as a recognition of its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Day 3: Mar Elias – Anjarah –Jerash– Madaba
Mar Elias and the nearby village are associated with Tishbe, mentioned in the Bible as the residence and possibly even birthplace of Elijah.
Ruins of a Byzantine church on a hilltop, still a place of pilgrimage related to the prophet Elijah venerated by Jews, Christians, and Muslims.
In biblical legend, Anjara has its assertions where Jesus and His Mother Mary passed through there and lived in a cave during their journey to the ten cities of Decapolis.
Day 4: Madaba – Nebo – Mukawir – Petra
Within an hour drive from Madaba along the picturesque Kings’ Highway, is Mukawir (Machaerus), the hilltop stronghold of Herod the Great. Upon Herod’s death, his son Herod Antipas inherited the fortress. And it is from here that he ordered John the Baptist to be beheaded after Salome’s fateful dance of the seven veils.
Day 5: Petra Visit
Travel to a magnificent red rose city dating back to the 1st century BC. Ancient master builders carved palaces, temples, tombs and more into the stone cliffs, what you will see today.
Day 6: Petra – Wadi Rum
After breakfast you will drive to Wadi Rum to explore the landscape of the desert by 4*4 vehicles with an option of a camel ride which makes your visit unforgettable. Dinner and Overnight at Wadi Rum camp.
Day 7: Wadi Rum – Bethany – Dead Sea
The site of John the Baptist’s settlement at Bethany Beyond the Jordan, it’s the site where Jesus was baptized, and it has long been known in the Bible (John 1:28 and 10:40) and in the historical Byzantine and medieval texts.
The site has now been identified on the east bank of the Jordan River, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and is being systematically surveyed, excavated, restored, and prepared to receive pilgrims and visitors. Bethany Beyond the Jordan is located an hour by car from Amman.
The Bethany area sites formed part of the early Christian pilgrimage route between Jerusalem, the Jordan River, and Mount Nebo.
